The Colorist: a definition I
consider hair coloring more than a service. It represents a real journey with the stages indicated by all the elements that include: respect for the skin and hair, technical aspects of color and the act of coloring.
Modern colors are always better performing…. but coloring your hair requires knowledge and skills that today the professional colorist has the duty to know.
Being prepared on all the elements involved in coloring, allows him to accompany his customers in the “color journey”.
What is the color for a hairdresser
If the cut is the service that creates an impact on customers, color the hair to a woman means instead g Gadag is the trust of their customers.
The hairdresser becomes the right person to advise a woman what is good for her and what is not as in the case of color, so he is required to provide a highly professional service. When a woman asks her hairdresser to color her hair or to change the color, she has decided to entrust her image to her hairdresser and the latter before coloring her hair by listening to her and choosing together her color to make him a promise makes him a promise: it will look good with the new color and its image will improve.
This is what a woman expects.
Knowledge and Training
Contrary to what is said in this period in the sector communication, for me the hairdresser must know how to do hair having culture: the culture of the cut, of the color and of all the elements that concern the activity of the hairdresser, including communication and knowing how to listen. The hairdresser must be a festive listener and must know how to achieve what the client asks.
The exhausting search for fashion is a message devoured by character and style in society, which compromises personalization and knowing how to highlight the most profound character profile of our female client. The hairdresser must know how to cut having studied the cutting techniques and at the same time knowing the culture and history. He must know, in fact, how the styles that made history and that inspired the forms have been created, such as the Baroque or the Bauhaus.
The same consideration for the color: you have to know the technical aspects, those of fashion and acquire your own style in coloring.
I want to say with absolute clarity that the hairdressing profession is studied!
There are didactic texts and empirical researches that provide excellent contents for not being more improvisers of a profession that is no longer done because you no longer want to go to school but study and build. I believe that the hairdresser today is an interior designer and an image expert; he also works with chemicals in contact with skin and hair, how can he still think of improvising? Continuous training, the development of the profession in all its aspects and above all personal growth, hair culture and cultivation of one’s talent should not be missing.
Why a book on hair color?
There are several reasons but I want to talk about the main one. The art of coloring hair is in our knowledge, it is in our hands, in our skills. The continuous improvement of the quality of coloring products in a certain sense facilitates and accompanies the development and improvement of the hair coloring service that takes place in the binomial colorist hairdresser and coloring product.
Gianfranco Cortesi and I wanted to make available a book that is a tool for coloring because it contains a method for coloring hair developed through the implementation of scientific research and the result of empirical research and tests that have confirmed its concrete functioning. We felt we wanted to spread a valid and effective coloring method that allowed, once learned, to color with any coloring product.
The aim is to share it with the largest number of fellow hairdressers through training sessions during which a group of friends can meet to discuss the color and what we do every day in our salons because hair coloring is a huge topic, it still has so many things to say and that I want to study and deepen.
Approach to reading
It is a technical book, teaches how to color with the method. The reader must bear in mind that “Hair color” is a manual that explains its operation in detail with rules, definitions and practical examples that visually represent the various technical services.
You should expect technical, practical advice and solutions for hair coloring. It was written combining the international experiences of Gianfranco Cortesi and mine. By this, I mean that we have had the opportunity to communicate color to different populations, with different habits and beliefs, and this has led us to communicate in a clear, simple and understandable way.
On the coloring of the hair often in some subjects, it has never been made clear and therefore everyone adopts its own idea, we wanted to shed light on every aspect that we considered useful for coloring by writing for each technical service and for every function any detail. The book is written by those who know perfectly the work of the hairdresser.
The book is divided into two parts: the first explains the functioning of the elements involved with scientific rules made practical, that is explained through the functioning in practice.
The second part is completely dedicated to practical exercises with examples of technical services. It addresses and solves problems, offers the solution for each technical service both verbatim and visually with images and captions and with explanations that also detail the application method for each service.
The hair color can be adopted with a technical manual and as such can be consulted during daily work in the salon even before doing work in order to resolve doubts about the technical path to follow to achieve the final result.
